Kitchen Yarn Dyeing

Learn to dye beautiful hand-painted yarn in your own kitchen with no special equipment. Students will learn how to prepare yarn and dye it, how to mix colors, and how to apply dye to their own skeins of yarn. No experience is necessary and all materials are included in the materials fee. Just make sure to wear clothes that can be stained.

Shibori

In this class you’ll learn such Shibori basics as Arashi (pole wrapped), Trikit (stitch resist), and Boshi (capping),and will make samples using silk, cotton, and cold water dyes for these and other Shibori techniques. There will also be a discussion of dyes, discharges, and care of silk. At least one silk scarf will be completed in class and another will be started in class for finishing at home.
